Viburnum mariesii

This compact deciduous shrub produces masses of single, lacy, white flowers on layers of horizontal branches in early summer. The foliage is spectacular in autumn, turning purple and red before falling off.  It is best planted as a stand-alone plant that can be admired without obstruction.
