Turnip/Swede

Swedes are a hybrid between a turnip and a type of cabbage and were developed in Sweden in the 17th century, the ones we grow in Ireland have Purple and Cream skin, they are used in Stews and Soups during the winter months.

Position: Sun/Light Shade

Soil:  Fertile moist soil but will not grow in waterlogged soil

Spacing:  15cm (6”) apart

Harvest:  Oct, Nov, Dec, Young shoots can also be eaten
