Cauliflower grows best in good fertile damp soil and digging in a bucketful of well-rotted manure or organic matter before planting will also help it to grow better, it needs a lot of water for the heads to form so keep it well watered in dry weather.

Position: Full sun

Soil: Almost any fertile deep firm soil

Spacing: 60cm (2ft) apart

Harvest:  Start cutting once the heads are firm
