Apple Idared

This apple variety produces large fruits that are yellow with a red flush and the flesh is white and juicy. The flavour is good, and the fruit can be used for both cooking and eating. It is one of the best apples for storing even in a domestic fridge it will keep for 6 months.  Has resistance to Scab and is itself a good pollinator for other varieties.

Site: prefers a sheltered site, and a location where it won’t get morning sun to protect the blossom from frost.

Soil: Any well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter added

Flowering: Fragrant white blossom in April – loved by bees

Harvest: October until December
