This apple is well-loved for its tart flavour and the fruit is ideal for eating fresh, baking, or making juice, including Cider. ‘Granny Smith’ was practically synonymous with ‘apple’ and the variety was used by the Beatles as the logo for their company ‘Apple Records’.

Site: prefers a sheltered site and a location where it won’t get morning sun to protect the blossom from frost.

Soil: Any well-drained soil with plenty of organic matter added
